Multisensory

The Delta Centre’s multi-sensory unit was opened in 1997 to provide much needed facilities for adults with profound disabilities in Carlow. It is the first of its kind in Ireland. With five rooms devoted to the sensory development of the user, it has improved the lives of all who attend each day and many other services and organisations come to use this facility during the year.

Multi-Sensory Rooms are specifically designed to enable people with disabilities to enjoy a wide range of sensory experiences, therapy, learning, relaxation and fun. The concept is to create an environment that focuses on particular senses such as feel, vision and sound.

This can be provided through tactile experiences, sound and visual effects in many combinations, and variations.
